Russian poet and playwright of the Silver Age. He is well known as the author of books for children.
Was born in Moscow in 1888 in the family of Yakov Agnivtsev, a nobleman and lawyer by profession. The poet's mother died when he was still in infancy.
In 1906 he was accepted into the Law Department of St. Petersburg University. Three years later he was transferred to the Faculty of History and Philology. 
The author's first poem "Native Land" was published in 1908 in the magazine "Vesna".
The flowering of his creative activity is associated with the work in cabaret theatres, performances in literary cafes and artistic restaurants.
Agnivtsev published about 20 books for children, he wrote for the circus and the stage. The last collection of his favourites" From Powder to Truck " was published in Moscow in 1927.
He died in Moscow on 19 October 1932 from throat tuberculosis.
